SS Washer Spring Lock Washers Introduction

Spring lock ss washer is locking washer that is used to avoid the screws, bolts and nuts to loose as a result of vibration. This ss washer is also called split lock or split ring washer. It also can provide tension and preload in a joint assembly. The spring lock ss washer is used on the nut side of the fastener. The stainless steel 304 and 316 ss washer spring lock washer is mostly used in outdoor and marine applications because of the super corrosion.

Note:

1.  If the nickel content is less than 8%, the minimum manganese content must be 5%
2.  When the nickel content is greater than 8%, there is no limit on the minimum copper content
3.  If the chromium content is less than 17%, the minimum nickel content is 12%
4.  For austenitic stainless steel with a maximum carbon content of 0.03%, the nitrogen content can reach a maximum of 0.22
5.  For products with larger diameters, in order to achieve the specified mechanical properties, the carbon content may be higher in the manufacturer's instructions, but for martensitic steel it should not exceed 0.12%

Difference Between Plain SS Washer and Spring Lock SS Washer

• Both flat ss washer and spring lock washer are used to distribute the force of fastener. Their shape is defferent.
• The application of flat washer is wider than spring lock washer
• Spring lock washer is unique since it can provide an axial load that against vibrations and prevent the bolts and screws from loosening.
